Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
ICT is aimed at delivering key skills which are transferable across all subjects and careers giving our students enough understanding of how to use technology so that they can benefit from all of its advantages. In ICT students learn about four key areas all the way through KS3 and KS4. These areas help students to work with and understand key software they will use day in day out. These four areas are:
Communication - Microsoft Word, Publisher, Frontpage, Powerpoint, Internet and E-Mail
Modelling - Microsoft Excel
Data Handling - Microsoft Excel and Access
Control - Flowol
Business Enterprise
Business Enterprise is aimed at delivering key business and entrepreneurial skills so that students can think and act like an entrepreneur. Business Enterprise is working on providing students with key skills that will allow them to develop across the whole school and beyond. Skills like communication, team work, listening, leading and problem solving are key to the way Business Enterprise is run and how it can develop students abilities to think and act like an entrepreneur. Business Enterprise provides students with clear insight into key areas of business and running your own business like:
Ownerships
Market and Advertising
Business Plans
Finance
People in Organisiations and Recruitment
Production
Business Laws
Enterprise
Enterprise is key to the way we run our faculty aiming to develop students problem solving, communication, organisation and many other enterprising skills, so that we can create a school of entrepreneurs who can self motivate and learn independently.
During the school year we get involved with many different businesses like Middlesbrough Football Club and Young Enterprise to help us develop students key abilities in the following three areas:
Academic Skills
Project Related Skills
Personal Skills
As well as these companies we do a lot of Nunthorpe created activities in and out of class in order to develop the key three areas. We do these through ICT and Business Enterprise lessons, Whole school days, PSYCCHE, and Work Related Learning. It is our aim to help develop these key skills so that students can use them to aim for higher National Curriculum Levels in all their subjects and better GCSE's during KS4. Developing skills like organisation and problem solving might even help them develop and impress at home.
