Courses and information at Nunthorpe School

All aspects of our comprehensive programme of Learning and Leisure courses outlined in the Nunthorpe Learning and Leisure prospectus 2010/11 are handled in-house. This enables us to provide you with a high quality personalised service tailored to match your interests, lifestyle and learning preferences. Our commitment to excellence remains as ever unchanged.

Overview

We recruit our own team of qualified tutors who are united in their passion for imparting their skills, knowledge and enthusiasm to ensure that all those who participate in courses, enjoy their Learning and Leisure experience.

All courses are based at the Nunthorpe School site and are available for anyone aged 16 years and above. Most courses are non-accredited courses, although courses can be accredited.

Whether you sign up to improve your art skills, learn new skills such as Spanish or flower arranging, or get fit with badminton, tap, yoga or Pilates classes, we guarantee an enjoyable experience – one which you will never forget! You are guaranteed a well planned and resourced series of lessons that you’ll undoubtedly enjoy. Whatever you want to do we’ll aim to provide you with that learning and leisure opportunity.

ParentPay

We’re pleased to announce that we now accept payments online for Nunthorpe Learning and Leisure Courses and lettings. Using a secure website called ParentPay you are able to pay online using your credit or debit card.

We are hoping that everyone will benefit from our new payment facility. ParentPay is easy-to-use and will offer you the freedom to make online payments whenever and wherever you like, 24/7 – safe in the knowledge that the technology used is of the highest internet security available and that funds will reach school safely.

Making a payment using your credit or debit card is straightforward. When you make a payment, an e-mail confirmation is sent to you, giving you reassurance that the transaction has been successful.
The more Learners/organisations that use ParentPay, the greater the benefit is to the school. You can help us reduce workloads for all staff, creating more time to lend to educational support and the smooth running of the school. It also ensures that all financial transactions are safe and secure.

    Adverse Weather Warning – 4 – 5 February 2012

    You will be aware that current Met Office weather warnings indicate some possible snow disruption in our region this coming Saturday night/Sunday morning. Clearly we hope that any disruption will not run into Monday or any of the next working week.

    Obviously, should we have any specific issues caused by this weather, our usual Adverse Weather arrangements (detailed in the News section of our website:- Adverse Weather Arrangements : School blog : News – Nunthorpe School) will be actioned.

    Nunthorpe’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)

    I am writing to you to give you more information on Nunthorpe’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), Moodle. I am sure many of you have seen your child accessing work through Moodle at home and also want to know more about what it is and how it can be used.

    Moodle is primarily a Learning platform on our school website, which is an online area where students can access work, extend their learning and take part in a wide range of learning activities. All students have a unique login to Moodle which allows them to access the different courses created by their teachers. Within these courses they will find their homework and links to lesson resources and other websites. By accessing Moodle with your child you will be able to find out what he/she is doing in certain lessons and also be able to help keep track of any homework.
