Nunthorpe School has been invited to join the Arkwright Scholarships Trust. The trust encourages the most talented young people to consider a career in the field of design and engineering.

The Arkwright Scholarship Trust is an independent Charity founded in 1991. The trust is funded by Industry, Charitable Trusts, the Services, Institutions, Associations and Personal Donors. Donations are given to support individual Scholars and the running of the programme. The scheme encourages partnerships between education and industry, promoting subjects such as Maths, Design Technology, Engineering and Science.

Nunthorpe School is a specialist school in Science and Business Enterprise and has students studying Engineering and Design Technology at A2 level – the main criteria required to become part of the Arkwright Scholarship Trust.

The invitation to join the Trust allows students of Nunthorpe to be considered for individual scholarships, becoming ambassadors within the school and raising the profile for Engineering and Design Technology within the local community.

Scholars benefit from financial support, career awareness days, networking and development opportunities and work experiences.

This is a great honor for Nunthorpe and the Sixth Form Experience students. Nunthorpe is one of the few education providers in Redcar and Cleveland to be awarded this opportunity. It brings the prospect of exciting opportunities for the development of its students.

    Nunthorpe’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)

I am writing to you to give you more information on Nunthorpe’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), Moodle. I am sure many of you have seen your child accessing work through Moodle at home and also want to know more about what it is and how it can be used.

Moodle is primarily a Learning platform on our school website, which is an online area where students can access work, extend their learning and take part in a wide range of learning activities. All students have a unique login to Moodle which allows them to access the different courses created by their teachers. Within these courses they will find their homework and links to lesson resources and other websites. By accessing Moodle with your child you will be able to find out what he/she is doing in certain lessons and also be able to help keep track of any homework.
