Welcome to our new school website, we hope you enjoy it!

Many school websites are out of date, difficult to access, not student centred and all round dull. Our new web site is none of those things. It now has a fantastic new look and has lots of new, interesting and relevant content.

I am one member of a team of fantastic, hard working prefects in school. We take part in house duties, helping out the PDLs and APDLs with tasks in house areas and tutor groups, and helping the house to benefit from the decisions and contributions that we make. We also take part in one early morning duty, one break duty and one lunch duty per week, alongside a member of staff. This makes us visible and approachable in the school community, and along with our own ties, matching our house colour, makes us instantly recognisable. As a group, we have a positive influence and consider ourselves to be a helpful role model to all the students.

I hope that this blog post in the new student section of our website will be the first of many and hopefully will make students feel part of the site, encouraging them to participate and get more involved with the content posted online.

jake – great start to our blog. I hope that all of our students will begin to see the power of our new site in helping them enjoy Nunthorpe even more and keep making us a better and better school.

    Well said Jake.
What does everyone think of the new website? I’m pretty impressed after my first look at it, no doubt the web team will continue to develop it but it’s a great start.

We like the new website but we think it could be inproved by being sections in the Student section for each year group and using drop down menus etc.

I think this website is good for new comers in the school!

The website is easy to navigate around and like ‘Ronseal’ everything does what it says on the tin.
I would like to be able to contact students via email, to perhaps send PowerPoints and extra work as We are heavily into revision time. Is there a way of accessing student emails via the new website; the same as parents and students can quickly get Staff emails?

    Nunthorpe’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)

I am writing to you to give you more information on Nunthorpe’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), Moodle. I am sure many of you have seen your child accessing work through Moodle at home and also want to know more about what it is and how it can be used.

Moodle is primarily a Learning platform on our school website, which is an online area where students can access work, extend their learning and take part in a wide range of learning activities. All students have a unique login to Moodle which allows them to access the different courses created by their teachers. Within these courses they will find their homework and links to lesson resources and other websites. By accessing Moodle with your child you will be able to find out what he/she is doing in certain lessons and also be able to help keep track of any homework.
