Welcome to Endeavour's House Page!

Our House

Endeavour House is one of the five houses in Nunthorpe School. Our House Motto is “Endeavour House: Recognising Talent, Realising Potential” and everyone in the Endeavour House team tries to live up to that bold aim by trying to achieve at every level of the school community. It’s school wide colour is green, as conveyed by the green E’s on Endeavour student ties.

Endeavour House is a very competitive House and we are a proud regular winner of the school’s house sports award, which pits house against house in sports ranging hockey to rugby.

House Leaders

Mr Parrish (PDL)

Hello, I’m Mr Parrish, Pastoral Director of Learning for Endeavour House, your key contact after your form tutor. I have been Head of House since September 2009, and I’m looking forward to developing the house identity with your help and enthusiasm. My key aim is to ensure the development of all students within the House, creating a strong ethos of self-esteem, determination and success. I currently teach ICT and Business Studies and have taught here for 3 years. My interests outside of school include Cricket and Golf although I don’t get nearly enough time to enjoy them, as I’m too busy having fun at school.

Our Motto for the House this year is: “Endeavour House: Recognising Talent, Realising Potential.” It is my aim that while I’m in charge of the House that all Endeavour Students will fully realise their potential in every sense of the word. I’ll also try to make sure that we recognise our talents and successes as we negotiate our way through each academic year. Endeavour House is particularly good at winning the House sports events that run in school every year and I’m keen that we should continue to triumph over the other houses at these events. Another aspect that I would like to focus on this year is our House Charity. We currently raise funds for the Special Care Baby Unit at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough. Last year we raised just short of £750.00, this year I’m setting a more challenging target of £1500. With the help of our fantastic team I believe we can surpass that total. Welcome to Nunthorpe School and to Endeavour House. I look forward to meeting and working with you.

Mrs Puddick (APDL)

Hello I’m Mrs Puddick. I have worked at Nunthorpe for many years and I really enjoy my jobs of Geography teacher and Assistant Pastoral Director of Learning to this excellent House. I have many interests, all types of sport, handicrafts, gardening and spending time with my family.

House Captains

In the house, year 11 students are appointed to become prefects and help around school with various duties. Endeavour has 13 prefects and then a Head Boy and Head Girl of the house, Connor Atkinson and Hannah Rodgers. Endeavour also boasts the Head Boy and Head Girl of Nunthorpe School, Joe Harris and Emma Simpson.

Message from Connor and Hannah:

“Hello, we’re Connor and Hannah and we are the house captains of Endeavour.

We help to ensure everything runs smoothly within the house. This involves liaising with Endeavour prefects, performing day-to-day duties and acting as an approachable figure for Endeavour students who have any queries or concerns about their school life.
We assist our PDL, Mr Parrish, and our APDL, Mrs Puddick, with any errands and, along with our team of prefects, help keep the house running to the best it can be. We also take care of the Endeavour duty days, attend meetings with other House Captains to voice any concerns and we even present some of the house assemblies.

We hope this has given you a little insight into how our house works and what the role of House captain entails.”

Student Voice

Our Student Voice representatives are Temi Sobowale and Richard Goldsborough. Temi and Richard help with assemblies, the weekly bulletin, attend the staff house meetings for the first 15 minutes to represent the Endeavour students and attend the regular prefect meetings to discuss new ideas to make tutor time better.

House Charity

Students have a big part in how Endeavour works, and as such, had a part in choosing Endeavour’s charity for the 2010-2012 academic year. All twelve forms that make up the house had their say and the James Cook University Hospital Special Baby Care Unit won the vote. The Charity spends its resources helping babies who have some health difficulties develop happy, healthy lives.

Empowering Parents – the Delights and the Perils of Teenage Social Networking!

An increasing number of parents have approached us in recent months seeking information, help and support as they become more familiar with internet based social networking sites. These sites are an everyday feature of most adolescent lives in our technology rich 21st century world – made all the more possible by handheld portable devices (web-enabled smart phones etc.) so that sitting at a computer terminal to access the sites is no longer necessary.

It is perhaps obvious to state that a significant number of our parents are concerned about the potential dangers of social networking for their sons and daughters. Whilst they can see (as can our school) the potentially great benefits for young people of such technology, they also appreciate its possible risks – especially in the areas of ‘cyber bullying’ and ‘cyber grooming’.
