The Vision of Invincible House “It’s as simple as organisation”

House Leaders

Invincible House is led by Mr Steven Purcifer (PDL)

“I became PDL of Invincible house in January 2010 having previously been APDL. I am also a teacher of P.E. My main hobbies are Cricket and Football; I also enjoy spending time with my family and friends”.

Supporting the PDL is Miss Denise Cronin (APDL)

“I joined Nunthorpe School in September 2009 as a teacher of English and in January 2010 became APDL for Invincible house. My main hobbies are playing tennis and golf; I also enjoy spending time with my family and friends”

The Prefects

Supporting the house are a group of prefects who carry out their daily duties with maturity and a strong sense of responsibility. The prefects are lead by the Head Boy, Luke McGlade and Head Girl Hayley Humphreys, who are driven to make Invincible house a successful and supportive community within Nunthorpe School.

“Invincible Prefects are important to the house as they help to keep Invincible at its best. They encourage and support students to be organised, providing a link between students, tutors and the pastoral team; ensuring that communication is effective and everyone feels part of the community”

House Charity

Students are also encouraged and supported to participate in a variety of community and charity groups within Invincible House:

  • The Leonard Cheshire Trust “Invincible house’s chosen charity helping disabled people live their lives in ways they choose; supporting over 21,000 people within the UK;
  • The Christmas Shoebox Appeal “An annual appeal which sees students working together collecting gifts for children and families who would otherwise face a bleak Christmas”;
  • Residents of Nunthorpe “Students raise funds and create Christmas parcels for the more vulnerable residents of Nunthorpe”;
  • Community Group “A group which values the environment and entire community surrounding Nunthorpe School; carrying out projects and litter patrols – giving something to the wider community of Nunthorpe”.

How can you help?

If you would like to support any of our community or charity groups it would be much appreciated. Our students are fully committed in helping these groups but if we can work together with our fantastic community then we can hopefully have a bigger impact.

    Empowering Parents – the Delights and the Perils of Teenage Social Networking!

    An increasing number of parents have approached us in recent months seeking information, help and support as they become more familiar with internet based social networking sites. These sites are an everyday feature of most adolescent lives in our technology rich 21st century world – made all the more possible by handheld portable devices (web-enabled smart phones etc.) so that sitting at a computer terminal to access the sites is no longer necessary.

    It is perhaps obvious to state that a significant number of our parents are concerned about the potential dangers of social networking for their sons and daughters. Whilst they can see (as can our school) the potentially great benefits for young people of such technology, they also appreciate its possible risks – especially in the areas of ‘cyber bullying’ and ‘cyber grooming’.
