The school

  • Nunthorpe is an oversubscribed co-educational 11 – 19 comprehensive school with 1,557 on roll.
  • We are on the southern edge of the Teesside conurbation in a comfortable residential area close to the North Yorkshire Moors. We are within driving distance of Durham, York and Newcastle.
  • We are often among the top 30% of 11 – 16 schools at GCSE performance levels; and are very popular indeed with parents.
  • We are a Specialist Science, Business and Enterprise School.

Director of Business and Finance

Nunthorpe seeks to appoint a visionary Director of Business and Finance (‘DBF’) of the highest calibre to join its Senior Leadership Team.

Nunthorpe is a large (1500+ students) 11-19 Mixed Comprehensive Foundation school. Our annual budget is in excess of £6m and we have 240+ staff. We are a self governing, fully extended school open 7 days and 5 evenings per week in school term time.

  • Our DBF plays a significant role in strategic goal setting for the school and operational problem solving on a day to day basis. He/she will need to:
  • Be proactive with advice and ideas to the Senior Leadership Team
  • Have, and enjoy, significant authority and be directly accountable to the Headteacher and governing body working closely to develop agreed strategies
  • Possess a highly collaborative working style – a key feature of our school

Our DBF will be responsible for the strategic leadership of staff teams managing the following services in our school:

  • Human Resource
  • Finance and Payroll
  • Performance and Planning
  • Catering
  • Campus Development and Improvement
  • Health and Safety
  • Whole School Administration
  • Extended School

This post will suit an ambitious, visionary and highly accomplished business professional from either the private or public sectors. Previous experience of working in the maintained education sector is not essential.

A desire to contribute, at the highest level, to leading Nunthorpe on our journey to ‘Outstanding’ is essential.
