Students life at Nunthorpe School

Information about life as a student, written from the point of view of a student.

‘At the Sixth form I am currently studying Travel & Tourism Level 2 National Diploma. I am in my third week and really enjoying it and looking forward to the rest of the year and all the assignments. The way this course works is through assignments exactly the same as a BTEC, except you are coming out with 4 GCSEs.

Throughout the year you do a lot of assignments but don’t let that get you down! You also go on about 2 trips a month to interesting places which relate to T & T. You also go abroad and visit London. When you are studying travel & tourism you realise that Spain is England’s best friend, so over the year whilst doing the national diploma you do 3 hours a week of Spanish and learn about their culture.’

‘I have enjoyed the first few weeks at this sixth form. At first it was quite stressful because it was something new and the work is a lot harder than at GCSE level; but once I got over the initial change I started to enjoy it.

The subjects I have taken are Maths, Psychology, Biology and German. I like all my subjects, especially Maths and German; Psychology and Biology are also interesting, however I am finding Biology a little more difficult as there are a lot of new things to learn.

I get given a lot to do in my independent study periods but the workload isn’t too big. Overall I like studying at Nunthorpe Sixth Form.’
