Student Voice Recycling Project

Student Voice Recycling Project

Student Voice identified the need for paper recycling to be tackled within our school and decided to make it their main project for 2009/10. Led by student T. Sobowale, we surveyed the school and established that 70 bins would be needed to place in all classrooms.

After researching the suitability of bins available it was decided that Dry Mixed Recycling bins would be the most cost effective and would also allow the recycling of plastic bottles and cans as well as paper in the same bin. This was then promoted by Student Voice in assemblies to ensure all staff and students were aware of the advantages of recycling.

Bins were made and distributed by Student Voice and are emptied every Thursday after school by a very enthusiastic and efficient team of student voice members. Only positive praise has been received about this venture and we have a waiting list for more bins needed around the school.
