Dear Parents/Carers,

The return visit to Germany will take place between Thursday 26 May and Friday 3 June 2011. It will be led by myself and Mrs C. Morgan. We will be travelling by coach from the school to Manchester Airport, from where we will fly to Cologne-Bonn. Students will be met by their host families at the airport.

This is an educational and social activity which will include experiencing life in a German family and school, as well as excursions and other social events. The total cost of this part of the Exchange will be £315. This will cover all travel, accomodation and insurance. Food will, of course, be provided by the host family. Your child’s spending money for the visit is not included. A cheque made payable to Nunthorpe School for £270 for the cost of the flights should be enclosed in the attached envelope and placed in the paying -in box outside the main office as soon as possible and by Tuesday 1 March 2011 at the latest. The sooner I receive the money the sooner I can confirm the booking. The balance of £45 will be due in May.

With regard to an activity like this, the school’s charging policy states that “if you are unwilling to contribute to this then the school will be unable to subsidise this visit and a place will not be offered to your child. If you would like to contribute but are unable to do so at present, please discuss this with me in confidence.” The charging policy also lays down the terms and conditions of refunds (see School Policies : Our School – Nunthorpe School)

Please read the attached consent form carefully, complete and sign it and return it to me as soon as possible. Please do not enclose it with your cheque.

Please make sure that your child has a passport and a European Health Insurance Card that will still be valid in June 2011.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email or telephone me. Emails will still reach me during school holidays.

Yours sincerely,

Peter Kemp
Teacher of Modern Foreign Languages
