In Memory of Devon Caddick

Devon Caddick

We are extremely saddened to share the news that one of our wonderful students, Devon Caddick, passed away last week after a long battle with illness.

Devon was known in our school among teachers and students alike as a caring, compassionate, girl who thought the world of her close-knit group of friends and aspired to attend our sixth form and one day become an Astro Physicist.

When the school community discovered how poorly she was, students were desperate to help the popular girl. Her friends designed a purple badge (her favourite colour) with her name and a feather on. Then the students within her house created the badges using school equipment, to sell to the rest of the school. The huge amount raised is testament to how popular and well-loved Devon was. Devon then used the money to spend on private tuition to catch up on work she had missed during treatment – evidence of her unwavering dedication and resilience.

She will be remembered for being a quietly confident, polite, articulate, determined, student who never gave up and never made a fuss, discreetly continuing with her work throughout her treatment. Her smile and strength will never be forgotten.

Devon will be greatly missed by everyone in our school, we feel privileged to have known her and shared part of her journey with her. We pass on our heart-felt condolences to her family and friends.

In loving memory,

Mrs Kate Kell
Head of School
