Due to the current Risk Assessment in place in response to Department For Education guidance these facilities are not currently available for any external bookings but only for academy students in their year group bubbles
The Design Technology Department is spread across 3 areas of the Academy, the hard side of Technology, Food & Textiles and the Sixth Form.
In the main building we have 3 specialist workshops, 2 kitted out for Product Design and Graphic Products and 1 for Engineering. These rooms have a range of equipment and machines, such as pillar drills, band saws, hegner saws, belt sander, strip heater, lathe and a wide range of hand tools. The engineering room has metal working lathe, milling machines, CNC lathes, ring roller, guillotine, welding and brazing equipment, and various pressed to form metal. We also have a computer suite, with a class set of computer to enable students to access CAD/CAM within there work. This room has a laser cutter for the students to use.
In the sixth form there is a specialist Product Design Workshop and studio. This has a range of equipment such as, a large laser cutter, 3D printer, CNC milling machine, interactive smart board, belt sander, hegner saws, pillar drill and a wide range of hand tools to allow students to produce products of an extremely high standard.
