Careers Advice
The purpose of Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance is to prepare for the curriculum choices that young people make which have implications for their future progression routes.
CEIAG programmes play a major role in young people’s personal development by preparing them for opportunities, responsibilities and experiences in later life. They help to raise aspirations of students, increase their motivation, enable them to challenge stereotypes and make the most of the vast array of opportunities open to them.
It is because of this that Nunthorpe Academy is committed to delivering careers education across the whole curriculum and across all years of the highest possible standards, through a series of activities that are appropriate to students’ stages of career learning, planning and development. We aim to give all of our students, up to date, relevant information that will help them to reach their personal aspirations and goals. We were awarded the Investors in Careers Award in May 2013 which is a national quality mark recognising the commitment of a school to deliver high quality and impartial careers education, information, advice and guidance to all students. The report states that ‘The school has a clearly laid out process for supporting students to make successful choices about their futures. The programme is very well planned, tracking processes are thorough and result in appropriate and timely interventions for students. The school has a very positive relationship with its local Routes to Employment Service’.
