On Thursay 26th our Y12 geographers set off on their fieldwork residential to Hull with our wonderful partner school Stokesley.
The day was bright and sunny and allowed for great exploration of the Holderness coast with students visiting well known case study sites such as Mappleton, Hornsea, Flamborough, Easington and Spurn head.
At each sites students conducted a number of different fieldwork methods including sand dune biodiversity, beach profiles and environmental impact assessments, to help them answer the question ' How and why do coastal landscapes along the Holderness coast change?'.
In the evening students ventured in to Hull to the hotel followed by some bowling and Nandos.
Friday saw an early start for breakfast then into Hull city centre for some human fieldwork. After a detailed walking tour of the main regeneration sites students broke into groups to conduct interviews, litter surveys, graffiti assessments, pedestrian count to help them answer the question of ' How successful are the Government intervention strategies used at Hull?' Students got stuck into each activity and worked well with the Stokesley teams throughout the residential.
A big thank you to team Stokesley for inviting us to join this amazing trip. Students will use their experiences to help them in conducting their own research enquiry questions for their NEA which is worth 30% of their final grade!
